Origin and Interesting Facts
Emblica officinalis - the fruit of the Amla tree, native to all of India, is one of the most important medicinal plants in Ayurvedic medicine.
Amalaki (or Amla) has such comprehensive health-promoting effects that it is often described as a "divine medicinal plant" in Ayurvedic scriptures.
The Amla fruit is considered the most concentrated source of Vitamin C in the plant kingdom - it contains about 30 times the amount of an orange!
The Vitamin C in the Amla fruit is stable against heat and light and can be particularly well absorbed by the body.
Amla improves the absorption of calcium in the body and thus supports the mineralization of teeth, bones, hair, and nails.
Furthermore, Amla supports the absorption of iron in the body and promotes blood formation.
Together with a protein-rich diet, Amla promotes the build-up of muscle tissue and is therefore also of interest to athletes.
Amalaki is a valuable component of Triphala, an Ayurvedic remedy consisting of 3 components with incredible effects and a very broad spectrum of action.
The 3 components are Haritaki, Bibhitaki, and Amalaki and are mixed in a 1:1:1 ratio.
